You’ve likely almost made it to break! And please, savor all of the rest that is hopefully coming your way.
After the break, school life continues. January is one of those moments in the school year where everything feels like a fresh start… and also a little overwhelming. If you’re an elementary or middle school teacher coming back from break, chances are you’re thinking about routines, expectations, and meaningful ways to re-engage your students—without adding a ton of extra prep to your plate. In this video, I’m sharing one of my favorite back-to-school activities that I learned early in my teaching career and carried with me ever since.
This simple video time-capsule project is something your students will love, parents will treasure, and you’ll appreciate because it saves you time while still hitting important language arts, reflection, and digital literacy skills. It’s adaptable for elementary and middle school classrooms, easy to implement with devices you already have, and meaningful without being complicated. Think of it as a “set the tone for the year” activity that gives you a ready-to-go win during those first days back.
Now go and enjoy your break!
As always, I’m rooting for you—this month and beyond.
Your friend,
Vimbo
