Happy Thursday, friends!
Honestly, writing this blog has been giving me life! I truly love writing, and this has been such a wonderful outlet for me.
Today, I’m writing to share some things that have been brightening the first month of the year for me.
1) Making New Friends
What’s pouring sunshine into my life is leaning into new friendships. I attended a lunch for young adults after church a few weekends ago.
Next week, I have a coffee date with a neighbor and another coffee workday with a new friend. We both work from home, and we’ve already met up once this month.
I am such an extreme extrovert. Working mostly from home has been a massive transition for me. So, I have been intentionally scheduling time to see humans outside my home, and it’s working!
2) Baking & Saying Hello to Neighbors
This year, I am leaning into baking more! I made homemade Pumpkin Snickerdoodle cookies 🙂
Full disclosure: I don’t love making homemade cookies, hah! I was reminded of that when I made these cookies this week. There is so much cleanup; honestly, I would rather grab the frozen ones and bake them.
So, my next recipe is homemade blueberry hand pies. I haven’t made those in YEARS, but I remember enjoying it.
Each morning, I pray, read my Bible, write a list of things I’m grateful for, and journal in my prayer journal.
Then, I usually go downstairs to make my morning tea; I listen to a podcast. Lately, this one has been bringing me joy every Monday. Kendra is so practical and gracious. Her advice and observations help me organize my life and “lazy genius” my way through things!
4) Indoor Movement
I feel better when I move intentionally every day. Yet, we’ve seen temperatures in the teens this week, and I do not love to walk outside when that’s the case.
A recent gift I gave to myself was a walking pad. So now, when my husband and I watch Succession after dinner (we’re on episode 7 of season 4, so we’re near the end!) I walk and my entire body feels so much better by squeezing little 15-, 20-, or 30-minute walks in my day.
5) This Blog
I mention this above, but writing has been so good for me and my mental health.
What I love most about this blog is that it is whatever I want to write. Right now, I don’t have any rules. There’s no need to “niche” down and stick to one topic. There’s no goal other than writing every Monday and Thursday and sharing what’s on my heart. So, thank you for stopping by!
