I had a great time hosting Galentines this weekend!
Here are a few quick reflections I had from hosting my first in-person event in a really long time!
(1) It’s ok to be nervous I wasn’t really sure how everything would turn out. I did my best to plan for the unexpected. I visited the venue before the event and connected with the people. I had conversation cards and other things to fill the time between waiting for the candles to harden. Ultimately, things worked out way better than I could have planned. The goal was for people to connect and have fun, and that was accomplished!
(2) People are generally looking for connections I recently learned that DC is the loneliest city in the US. WOW! People are looking for friends! Over half of the people who came didn’t know me personally, and that was surprising to me. People are seeking friendship, and random events you find online can create that!
(3) It’s fun to create a connection by doing something together. Making candles together was fun, engaging, and a sweet-smelling event to bond with new and old friends. If you’re looking to strengthen your friendships, do something together!
‘Twas a fun event, and I’m looking forward to hosting another one in the next couple of months; keep your eyes open!
Your Friend,
Vimbo
